Consultation is an essential part of the policy making process. It gives us the opportunity to consider your opinion and expertise on a proposed area of work.
The Forestry Grant Scheme (FGS) has been very successful since its introduction in 2015 and has supported over 5,200 projects and delivered over 68,000 hectares of new woodland, making a valuable contribution to tackling climate change. A number of enhancements have been made to the FGS since it was introduced. To ensure that the scheme continues to deliver multiple benefits for the climate, economy, biodiversity and communities, this consultation is to gain stakeholder insight to help guide the future development of the scheme.
We encourage participation in this consultation through the online questionnaire but responses can also be emailed or posted using the respondent information form below.

The feedback that we receive from this consultation activity will help the Scottish Government identify priority improvements to ensure that the Forestry Grant Scheme continues to deliver multiple benefits and value for money.
Responses will be analysed and used as part of the decision-making process, along with a range of other information and evidence.
This consultation has now closed.
All of the responses that have been received will be analysed and considered along with any other available evidence submitted to us. Where respondents have given permission for their response to be made public, and after we have checked that they contain no potentially defamatory material, responses will be made available to the public at Scottish Forestry - Citizen Space (https://scottishforestry.citizenspace.com).
A consultation analysis report will also be prepared and published.
